Job Summary:
We are looking for an accomplished Mold Tooling Engineering Manager to guide our engineering team in the creation and production of medical cable assemblies and connector products. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of injection-molded components, ready to spearhead both new product initiatives and ongoing engineering support. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage an in-house tool shop, coordinating activities with toolmakers and mold design engineers.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to optimize product designs for production.
- Design and assess injection molds for medical connector components and cable assemblies.
- Develop and refine tooling concepts, including aspects like gating, venting, cooling, and surface finishes.
- Collaborate with product engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and economically viable.
- Engage with external mold shops, both domestic and offshore, during the tool design and qualification phases.
- Troubleshoot tooling-related issues and manage design revisions as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mold design, tooling, or toolmaking.
- An Associate's degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience is also considered.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
- Ability to perform detailed DFM and tooling feasibility assessments.
- Extensive experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with global manufacturing partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience specifically in medical connector and cable assembly mold design.
- Background as a journeyman toolmaker or significant shop floor experience.
- Familiarity with medical validation processes including IQ/OQ/PQ.
